Our home planet, Earth, is situated in the Milky Way galaxy: a collection of hundreds of billions of stars, planets, and clouds of gas bound together by gravity. The night sky gives a front-row seat to these spectacular phenomena. However, much of this it too faint to see with the naked eye. To reveal the utmost level of detail, I captured this 18-panel ultra high resolution super-panorama of the Milky Way. For each panel, I stacked three 2-minute exposures, a technique which reduces noise and increases detail. In total, the images captured total around 2 hours of exposure time, and reveal breathtaking details hidden in our night sky.
