Situated in the Bering Sea between Alaska and Russia, the small island of St. Paul is a home to millions of breeding seabirds. With perpetually unpredictable and often poor weather, any trip to the Bering Sea is guaranteed to be an adventure. The Thick-billed Murre, pictured here in flight over a huge wave, is one of the breeding species on the island. They must brave high seas and turbulent air as they forage for food in the ocean and return to the islands’ cliffs to feed their young.
