When a rare heavy winter snowfall was forecasted in my area, I knew I had to spend the photographing birds in the snow! I set out to a local lake in the nearby city of Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Having visited the lake for years, I knew there should be plenty of ducks around. However, these were the specific conditions I had been waiting for. The snow blanketing and falling on the landscape made for spectacular photography conditions. I spent quite a bit of time focused on flight photography, capturing the ducks in action as they came and went from the area. With much patience and persistence, I captured this image of a male Northern Pintail coming in for a landing in the snow.
