Pictured here is a Rufous Hummingbird, a migratory species which winters predominantly in Mexico, and travels thousands of kilometers to as far north as Alaska for the breeding season. Making a stop on their long migration, this male and about a dozen other Rufous Hummingbirds arrived to feed from a patch Red-flowering Currants one evening. As this male perched in the midst of the flowers, I framed him through the bright pink foliage to capture this vibrant image.
