Each year, Black Bears gather along rivers and streams on the British Columbia coast in wait of the annual salmon runs. Catching the fish is no easy task, and different bears employ different techniques to do so. While some bears will frantically run around chasing every splash they see, this bear exhibited great patience, standing completely still for hours. This was ultimately rewarded, and the bear caught a huge Coho Salmon. Much patience was also required to capture this image, as I waited with a telephoto lens some distance away for many hours in anticipation of this moment.
