Witnessing a lunar eclipse is always magical. However, this one was particularly memorable for me. At 2:15am in the morning November 8, 2022, I headed outside to try to catch a glimpse of this eclipse over my home city of Vancouver, Canada. It was very cloudy, with some snow flurries even falling to the ground. However, the clouds were fast moving, and occasional gaps would appear, revealing the beautiful backdrop of space. While I initially expected the clouds to make photography difficult, they actually provided a very unique opportunity to capture the eclipse, framing the moon beautifully. Of over 1300 images I captured over a couple of hours, this moment towards the end of eclipse totality when the moon began to brighten and illuminate the clouds was my favourite.
