In the spring of 2021, I decided I would get to know my local area in Vancouver, Canada as well as possible. Each morning, I ventured out to a local park, searching for birds and wildlife. Over the course of the spring, I became more and more focused on the beautiful hummingbirds that were abundant in the area. I would spend hours searching for their favourite feeding locations, and then spend hours waiting by their favourite flowering plants as they visited to feed on nectar. For this image, I crouched down for a low angle, shooting through foliage and towards the bright tones in the background to get a dreamy in-camera effect as this Anna's Hummingbird hovered, feeding on small honeysuckle flowers.
