Camping in the mountains just a couple hours outside of my home city of Vancouver, I got to experience the beautiful night sky with minimal influence from the light pollution that so often hides the stars. This image, capturing an alignment between the core of the Milky Way and two impressive peaks in the Cascade Mountains, required a lot of planning. Scouting trips, virtual simulations, and a close watch of the weather forecast came together to facilitate the final result. The alignment between the Milky Way core and the mountain peaks would occur at around three in the morning. Settling into my sleeping bag in my tent, I was hoping the sky would be clear when I got up. As my alarm went off in the early morning hours, clouds unfortunately covered most of the sky. However, they began to clear just in time to reveal this spectacular scene!
