As a wildlife photographer, I have to spend a lot of time exploring backroads and remote areas in search of animals. Often, no wildlife is to be seen. However, I'm often unexpectedly rewarded with spectacular views. While exploring the backroads of British Columbia's Fraser Valley, I spotted a stunning cloud of mist rising from a distant valley, which I captured in this photo. Forest in this area gets fertilized from rich marine nutrients brought into the forest by Bald Eagles and other predators carrying salmon into the safety of the trees, increasing tree and other vegetation growth.
