Nature comes in such remarkable forms; the intricate feather details in the wing feathers of this hummingbird, a Fawn-breasted Brilliant, blew me away. The bird was perched high in a tree in the cloud forest of Ecuador, backlit by the sun. When it took off, the sun lit up its translucent feathers. Watching the hummingbirds behavior as it came and went from its favourite perch, I was able to capture the split-second moment that it took flight.
